The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Manager of Development, this role is responsible for independently providing professional planning recommendations related to major, high profile development applications including: Official Plan Amendments, rezoning applications, site plans, Committee of Adjustment, subdivision/condominium and land division.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a certified professional (CIP) with a post-secondary degree in Planning or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 7 years related experience in planning, preferably at the municipal level and will have strong demonstrated organizational skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing reports containing staff conditions and recommendations on all forms of development applications.

This individual will have a demonstrated ability to make decisions involving broadly defined work; including reviewing major provincial, regional and municipal policy in response to development and planning related inquires. The ideal candidate will be expected to support the recommendation process as well as offer advice to Council, staff, and the public in regard to current planning projects, development applications and related matters.

The selected candidate will attend council and other meetings, including Hearings and Legal Tribunals, as required to represent the Planning and Development Department interests for the Town of Caledon and will be responsible for coordinating public meetings pertaining to planning and development matters.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and will be responsible for reviewing major planning development applications, projects and studies as assigned by the Manager of Development.

This position offers a salary range of $80,003.00 – $100,614.01. 

Notwithstanding the above, candidates who do not fulfill all of our requirements may be considered in a Development Status capacity. Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
