Job Overview

Reporting to the Director, Revenue and Accounting, the Senior Financial Analyst, Revenue is a member of the Revenue team and is responsible for providing financial analysis and reporting in taxation, water utility and other billing and general accounting areas. Lead, in collaboration with the team, various software enhancement and upgrade projects to ensure functional requirements are being met.


  • Evaluate revenue software solutions for improvements and upgrades
  • Functional lead for Revenue software enhancements and implementations
  • Develop and maintain revenue related policies and procedures including taxation collection and assist in the development of other finance policies, procedures, business plans and budgets
  • Research and analyze data to create reports related to taxation, billing and collection issues and the impacts of changes in assessment legislation
  • Prepare year-end financial analysis and reporting in relation to annual audit
  • Assist other Revenue staff in managing the assessment base
  • Respond to customer and community inquiries
  • Other duties as required 

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree with an accounting specialization
  • Possession of a Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA formerly CA, CGA, or CMA)
  • Five years related experience preferably in the municipal sector
  • Completion of Municipal Tax Administration Program or related program is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of assessment matters and legislation based on experience in a municipal environment or in a related public sector work environment would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience with accounting and billing software; experience with PeopleSoft and Vailtech will be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with other members of the team, customers and other stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proven project management and organizational skills to manage competing and changing priorities
  • Strong customer service approach
  • Self-motivated, goal-orientated individual capable of working in a dynamic and challenging work environment
  • A satisfactory police criminal and judicial matters check is required as a condition of hire
  • Applicants will be required to undergo skills assessment testing
