The Township of Scugog is a picturesque, natural community and home of 22,500 residents.  The Municipal Office is located in Port Perry along the shores of Lake Scugog within the Regional Municipality of Durham. The Township offers an excellent combination of location, historical landmarks, small town charm and urban amenities.  The Township is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to become our Director of Corporate Services/Municipal Clerk.

The Director of Corporate Services/Municipal Clerk reports directly to the C.A.O. and is a member of the senior management team.  This position is responsible for leading and directing the effective delivery of public and legislative services including the statutory duties of a Municipal Clerk.  In addition, the Director of Corporate Services/Municipal Clerk has responsibility for the following areas:

  • Municipal Elections
  • Meeting Management and Governance
  • Corporate Communications and Strategic Planning
  • Property acquisition and disposal
  • Records Management and FOI
  • Information Technology
  • Customer Service
  • Insurance Claims

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Political Science or Law, or equivalent, and have five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal, unionized environment at a supervisory level, including extensive experience working with elected officials. Experience conducting a municipal election is a must. Formal training in information technology, or a strong affinity for technology and modernization and knowledge of the eScribe meeting management and Laserfiche software programs will be considered a major asset.
