Reporting to the City Manager and Audit Committee of Council, the Director, Internal Audit is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of the division. With a team of professionals, the Director executes an annual audit work plan using a systematic, riskbased approach based on the standards and practices of the Institute of Internal Auditors. You will provide recommendations for continuous improvement and maximizing resource efficiencies, to improve effectiveness of City services, and to promote best practices in internal control. A team player, you will assist management when requested to provide support and proactive advice on projects. A key to Mississauga ’s culture is our focus on collaboration, so you are a leader that is able to maintain the independence necessary for an effective audit function, while maintaining positive and productive relationships.
With your degree and accounting and/or audit designation you are a seasoned audit professional, have held senior leadership roles, and supervised staff. You demonstrate sound business judgement, strategic thinking, and the ability to apply a “bottom line” and results-oriented approach. You are a clear and concise communicator and known for building relationships and collaborating across the organization. As a coach and mentor, you’ve created a team environment and model the pursuit of innovation and proactive problem solving.
