The Township of Howick is seeking applications for a Deputy Treasurer to complement our staff. We are committed to excellence realized through strong and effective leadership, strategic and business planning.
Reporting to the Treasurer-Tax Collector, the incumbent will be responsible for various financial functions; Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Customer Service in addition to assisting with Payroll, Taxation and Asset Management.
The ideal candidate will possess a Post-Secondary education with discipline in finance or accounting or related combination of education and experience, successful completion of Municipal Accounting and Finance Course, Municipal Tax Administration Program and payroll experience. Proficient in computer applications (including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point as well as Keystone and City Wide). Preference will be given to the candidate with a minimum of 3 years municipal experience. Strong personal organizational management and computer skills are required. This position requires someone with initiative, good communication and public relations skills in a busy office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to be promoted within the organization at a future date.
