TheTownship Clerk is responsible for all Council/Committee support, by-lawresearch and preparation, records management acts as the “Head” under theFreedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other statutory dutiesrequired under the Ontario Municipal Act and other Acts.
Responsible for the preparation of Council and Committee Agendas and prepares resolutions for consideration by Council.
Attends Council and Committee meetings to take minutes and provide information and/or guidance on any matter regarding policy or procedure of Council. Ensures that meeting information is available for the public in accordance with the Council approved notice procedures. Completes correspondence as a result of Council decision.
Responsible for researching, drafting and/or reviewing By-laws and agreements regarding and including procedural requirements and changes to legislation.
Responsible for conducting the Municipal election as set out in the Municipal Elections Act. Duties include preparing election procedures, preparing the voters list, training election staff and monitoring and reporting of election results.
Functions as “Head” under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Receives and processes requests under the Act, opens files, researches and prepares decisions.
Administers the Municipal Records System and performs as Records Coordinator responsible for supervising the records management system, including the destruction of files in accordance with applicable legislation.
College Diploma or University Degree in Public Administration or related field.
AMCTO or CMO designation would be considered an asset.
5 to 7 years of current related experience in progressively more senior roles.
Thorough working knowledge of the Municipal Act, the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Municipal Elections Act, and other applicable legislation.
Excellent interpersonal and communicative skills, both written and oral.
Superior computer skills including agenda and records management software, Microsoft suite and related office equipment.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must have knowledge of Municipal policies and procedures.
Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Compensationfor this position is $48.30 to $56.18 per hour, for 35 hours per week. Thisis Full -Time position with a comprehensive benefits package.
