About Alnwick/Haldimand Township
One of seven municipalities in Northumberland County, Alnwick/Haldimand (A/H) Township is centrally located, being adjacent to three other municipalities, both the east and west, and bound to the south by Lake Ontario and to the north by Rice Lake. Alnwick/Haldimand is referred to by many, as the “Beautiful Township between the Lakes”.The township is rural based with agriculture being the largest contributor to the general economy. Grain cash crops, milk, livestock, vineyards and apple farming are all viable in the area. Agriculture surrounds the seven (7) hamlets and settlement areas in the township, the largest being Grafton, in the south along Highway 401 and, Roseneath located on County Rd. 45, close to Rice Lake and the 500+ seasonal cottages.Highway 401, which extends the full length of southern Ontario runs through A/H making destinations like, Toronto, Montreal, Niagara Falls and the north east American states quite accessible.
